Elizabeth became leader of North Herts Council in May 2021 having previously been Executive Member for Recycling & Waste since 2019.
Elizabeth developed a new Council Plan for North Herts with the priorities of putting people first, ensuring environmental and economic sustainability, and planning for a long term brighter future for all who live, work, and do business in North Herts. She is leading on exploring better outcomes for young people in the district and breaking down barriers to wellbeing.
Elizabeth works part time for the Financial Ombudsman Service, where she has specialised in private medical insurance and income protection matters. She has developed casework approaches in multiple practice areas and delivered workshops on project management and other training to colleagues.
Outside of work Elizabeth is a successful figure skater, having competed internationally and performed in shows nationwide. She is training to be a coach and believes in training the whole athlete, with an interest particularly in mental health and sports psychology. She also plays football and is committed to increase opportunity and access to activity to all, with a focus on improving visibility of women in sport.
Elizabeth’s background brings a clear focus on team work, she takes a “one team” approach to all aspects of work to secure the greatest happiness for the greatest number. Her mantra is “we win and lose as a team”. A natural problem solver, she finds creative solutions to problems, values mistakes as learning opportunities, and is committed to identifying and overcoming the barriers to health and wellbeing equalities.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys making clothes for herself and her two children, theatre, archaeology and taking her two dogs for walks.
