If you want to know more about the treatments for COVID and if you are eligible visit the NHS website. If you are eligible, it is important to know that these treatments work best if taken quickly so be prepared and follow these actions:
Keep lateral flow tests at home.
- Keep lateral flow test kits at home so you can get tested quickly if you have any COVID symptoms.
- If you don’t have tests you can request them from certain community pharmacies that are registered to provide this service across Hertfordshire and West Essex. You can find out if a pharmacy near you is offering free tests using the Find a pharmacy service. You can also buy tests from a pharmacy or a reputable source online.
Take a test if you have COVID symptoms.
- If you have symptoms you should take a lateral flow test, even if your symptoms are mild.
- If your test is negative but you still have symptoms, you should take another test on each of the next two days (three tests in total over three days).
If a test confirms you have COVID, call 111 for an assessment for COVID-19 treatment.
- They will then advise which treatment, if any, is suitable, and make any necessary arrangements for prescribing oral treatments, or hospital referral if the treatment needs to be given as a drip in your arm (infusion).
- As part of the assessment, you will be asked about medication you are taking, including vitamins.
