The ICB’s first ever Youth Council was launched in 2023 to hear the voices of young people and help to improve their experience of using local services.
Young people were invited to apply to become members and provide crucial first hand experience with nine members, aged between 12 and 19, recruited.
They have met several times both face to face and virtually and have already given valuable feedback on a number of different health issues.
This has also included advising heath leads from organisations including the Patients Association as part of an on-going project to develop patient groups.
The videos were made to complement this work and help patient groups understand what young people need from healthcare.
There are eight short videos to watch, covering a number of different aspects of healthcare and young people, which have been uploaded to YouTube along with a longer version featuring clips from all of the individual films.
The short films are:
- Approaching health issues for children and young people
- Visiting GP surgeries
- Ways to encourage young people to visit pharmacies
- How young people would like to be communicated with
- Experiences of visiting GP surgery
- Main focus for keeping healthy
- What young people feel parents and teachers need to be more educated about
- Top health topics young people
You can also watch a longer version which combines clips from the individual shorts.
