- The main discussion at the meeting was a report about the current housing provision and need across the ICS, and how it relates to projected housing needs for older people with a focus on:
- dementia
- care homes and extra care
- housing conditions relating to children and young people, with a focus on decent homes, damp and mould.
- ICP Members received presentations on both older people housing and housing conditions relating to children and young people from county council and district/borough council officers. This included projection of housing need with examples of:
- extra care housing developments in both Hertfordshire and West Essex
- poor quality homes across Hertfordshire and west Essex
- the learning from the death of baby Awaab Ishak
- the number of children in Hertfordshire and west Essex who are still living in mouldy and damp homes.
- This generated discussion on what the Partnership can do together to support progress across both themes.
- ICP Members noted the challenges across both housing themes and committed to raising awareness of the risk of damp and mould through their organisations. This will be supported by:
- a communication from Public Health, to raise awareness and promote a collaborative approach across the system
- the development of a system-wide toolkit, to enable better understanding of pathways and referrals
- the Partnership considering working together to develop a strategy that will encompass discussion on housing options for older people.
- The report was warmly welcomed and ICP members agreed a number of actions to be progressed by all partners.
- Read an additional Citizens Advice report on damp, cold and full of mould, shared for information.
- The ICP also received a report detailing progress highlight reports for the delivery of the integrated care strategy and progress to finalise a strategic monitoring framework for the integrated care strategy.
