To mark the occasion, Carers in Hertfordshire hosted an information event in Welwyn Garden City to give unpaid carers an opportunity to find out more about the support available to them.
With two sessions in the morning and afternoon on offer, nearly 50 carers attended to come and talk to lots of organisations including Citizens Advice and the Money Advice Unit. The event was also well supported by colleagues from health, social care and the voluntary sector, including members of our own Primary Care team who were on hand to answer any questions about carers’ rights and support.
Some of the questions asked included how to get a break from caring, how to speak up about services that don’t work for them, how to apply for Lasting Power of Attorney and what to expect if you register as a carer with your GP.
