Cancel out Cancer is a local NHS volunteer-led campaign supported by the ICB, and promotes early diagnosis, and how it can save lives.
The group aims to help improve people’s awareness and understanding of cancer by talking through:
- the screening programmes
- how to spot signs and symptoms, and how to follow them up
- ways in which to help reduce the risks of some cancers.
Free sessions are run by the volunteers, either online or face to face, and are around 60 minutes long.
Since 2019, when the campaign started, hundreds of local people have benefited from learning a wealth of information from these volunteer presenters in their community, who give up their spare time to promote the message of early diagnosis. All you need to do to book up a session is email the ICB’s Communications and Engagement team if you want to know more.
If you have knowledge and experience of cancer you would like to share you can also learn how to become a Cancel Out Cancer presenter. You do not need previous experience – our team will provide you with training sessions and ongoing support, giving you all the tools and materials to take the awareness sessions out into the community.
