Local support
The local NHS initiative One Step at a Time shares experiences of cancer journeys from the perspective of patients and their loved ones in Harlow, west Essex.
You can find Macmillan Cancer Information Centres at each of our hospital trusts:
- East and North Hertfordshire Trust (Lister Hospital), Stevenage
- The Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust, Harlow
- Watford General and St Albans City Hospital
- Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre
There are local Macmillan benefits advice services for Hertfordshire and west Essex.
Cancer Care Maps helps you to find cancer support services in your local area. The site is a database of cancer-related support services for people with cancer, loved ones and health professionals.
If you have internet access and a Facebook page, you can join the west Essex Facebook cancer support group. This group offers a range of support including a volunteer befriending service and face-to-face visits.

Non-emergency patient transport is available to patients who need medical support to attend appointments at a hospital, outpatient or community clinic, or to get home after a hospital admission. You may be eligible for this service.
You can also try Epping Forest Community Transport or Uttlesford Community Travel.
National support
The national organisation, Macmillan Cancer Support , provides a range of support including financial and emotional support for people living with cancer, as well as services for families and loved ones. Their website also gives you different ways you can get in touch for help and advice.
